With campaigning underway for the Welsh Assembly elections on May 1st the fate of local hospitals, schools, roads and jobs are among the issues being discussed on BBC Wales.
As the country prepares to go to the polls, ELP are contributing to the newsroom coverage by lighting two interview studios at BBC Cardiff and following outside broadcast units out on the hustings.
"Twice the usual amount of lighting and rigging is required as all broadcast outputs are delivered simultaneously in English and Welsh usually requiring 2 separate sets" explains one of the three crew chiefs Mark Gardner."
…we could be in for a long shift on May 1st when results start coming and live coverage continues through the night" concludes Gardner.
A total of nine crew were supplied along with a variety of lighting, rigging and power hardware including a selection of Arri Fresnels from 500w to 5000w, 36 Kinoflo's, Source 4's, Parcans, 36 Mac2000, 60 Chromabanks, 38 Studiocolor, 34 Mac 600 all controlled off 3 Whole Hog 2 Consoles, all hanging off 200m of assorted truss. A 140 Kw Twinset Generator fed all the power for the locations.
"We have crew who specialise in working on Welsh projects" comments Managing Director Ronan Willson. "this year we will also be providing lighting and rigging services at The National Eisteddfod of Wales, the youth Eisteddfod and for a light entertainment show called "Y Bws Gwad" for Welsh broadcaster S4C
