ELP LIGHT ACOUSTIC BECK SESSION
Beck, four different guitars, a sampler and a very old Joanna…these were the on-stage ingredients for a recent BBC Four session recording.
Although better known for his knockout stadium spectacles Beck matched the simplicity of his recent Sea Change album with a largely acoustic set.
Lighting designer James Campbell and four ELP crew transformed the historic Union Chapel in London with an assortment of X Spots, Studio Beams, Mac 500's, Mac 300's, Par 64's and a selection of small Fresnels.
"The detailed architecture of the old chapel provided a suitable contrast to the minimalist stage set" comments Campbell. "the production was both intimate and interesting"
ELP continue to provide lighting and rigging expertise for the current series of BBC Four sessions. The eclectic range of world music performances featured so far includes David Byrne, Mariza, Baba Maal, Salif Keita, Youssou N'dour and India Arie.
