At a recent Songs of Praise recording in the Royal Albert Hall material was collected for three editions of the programme.
Presented by Pam Rhodes, this giant sing-along celebration of Christian music took place on Sunday 30th March 2003 and featured Aled Jones, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Methodist Church Choir of over one thousand voices.
ELP have been lighting Songs of Praise broadcasts for over 15 years and were naturally the first choice to illuminate this special occasion.
ELP managing director Ronan Willson also pointed to the fact that ELP know the Albert Hall intimately "…we have staged dozens of productions here over the years and we know every square inch of the place" he remarked.
Over 250 lights were supplied and mounted by a 5 man crew who worked to a very tight schedule. "Anyone who has worked the Albert hall will know just how far you have walk to get all the lights positioned…you should be paid by the mile" said show crew chief Joe Sherno.
Days later ELP were asked to cover another Songs of Praise special. This time it was the live Easter Sunday broadcast from Portsmouth Cathedral.
One of ELP's fleet of 200Kw twinset generators was called upon to provide the power for an impressive range of lamps and hardware.
"ELP has a great deal of 'hands-on' structural experience within historic buildings where a delicate methodical approach is required. That's why we are trusted to work in churches, cathedrals, museums and other public places" comments Willson.
