ELP are proud sponsors of a successful BBC Scotland team who participated in a world record breaking attempt.
The WaterAid Munro Challenge aimed to place teams of between four and six people on the summits of all the 284 Munros in Scotland and the three thousand foot peaks in England, Ireland and Wales.
The successful record breaking attempt took place on Saturday 11 June when a total of 303 summits were reached by 2pm.
The BBC Scotland team sponsored by ELP comprised:
Joe Breslin - Lighting Director
John McMillan – Engineering Manager
John Smith – Director
Anne Marie MacLeod – Production Manager
Laura MacLeod – 1st Assistant Director
The week before the record attempt, the team were asked to do two Munro’s. “The Glen is one of the most remote areas in the UK. As there were only two teams covering our whole Glen we could not let the record attempt down” comments LD Joe Breslin. “We knew it would take a lot more effort and we would be against the clock, but it made us all the more determined to succeed"
He continues…“Not only did ELP provide our entry and sponsorship fees for the challenge but they also furnished us with their latest range of corporate clobber including fleeces, T-shirts and combat trousers – these were greatly appreciated and used as extra layers to resist the considerable wind chill.”
Since 1994, the WaterAid Munro Challenges have raised an amazing £700,000 for WaterAid safe water, sanitation and hygiene education projects for some of the world's poorest people in Asia and Africa. The Challenge aims to raise a further £300,000 which should bring the total raised to date to £1million.
